Did you know that the primary ingredients of lip sticks are basically wax, pigment and mineral oil?
Yes, the same ingredients found in any regular crayon. Cosmetic companies just add extra fillers, additives, preservatives, fragrances and other substances to charge a higher price for profit.
In this article, you will be able to understand how easy it
is to create you own lipstick out of your old crayolas at home. Pick about
three shades of crayon you want to use.
Remove the labels and put them in a re- sealable zip lock bag. With a hammer or something hard enough to crush, pound the crayons into small pieces.
In a small heat resistant cup, combine the smashed crayon pieces, 3 tbsp of mineral oil (like soy or coconut oil) and one inch of segment candle made of beeswax. Placing the cup in a saucepan with enough water that reaches about an inch up its side. Heat the contents on a low temperature setting, not forgetting to stir occasionally until the ingredients in the cup dully melts. Then remove the cup carefully and allow to slightly cool for about 3 minutes.
When it’s ready, pour the said mixture into an empty lip stick bottle and allow to set for about 15 minutes. Once it already has cooled, you now have your very own lip stick made from crayons.
